Les entreprises canadiennes qui veulent r\u00e9ussir doivent \u00eatre en mesure d\u2019attirer et \u00e0 d\u00e9velopper ce secteur de la main-d\u2019oeuvre en pleine croissance. Plus important encore, elles doivent apprendre \u00e0 retenir dans leurs rangs les personnes de couleur \u2014 un d\u00e9fi de taille puisqu\u2019une \u00e9tude a r\u00e9v\u00e9l\u00e9 que le Canada se classe au quatri\u00e8me rang mondial pour ce qui est du taux de d\u00e9mission des employ\u00e9s, sa moyenne \u00e9tant de 16 %.<\/p>\n<p>Dans notre \u00e9tude portant sur plus de 700 Canadiennes et Canadiens de couleur, nous avons pris conscience de la situation inqui\u00e9tante qui s\u00e9vit relativement \u00e0 la charge \u00e9motionnelle et \u00e0 l\u2019attrition qui r\u00e9sulte de cette derni\u00e8re. La charge \u00e9motionnelle \u2014 que nous avons d\u00e9crite pour la premi\u00e8re fois en 2016- est la combinaison du fait de se sentir diff\u00e9rent de ses pairs au travail en raison de son sexe, de sa race ou de son origine ethnique, d\u2019\u00eatre sur ses gardes face aux pr\u00e9jug\u00e9s, et des effets connexes de ces \u00e9l\u00e9ments sur la sant\u00e9, le bien-\u00eatre et la capacit\u00e9 de r\u00e9ussir dans son travail. Dans le pr\u00e9sent rapport, nous nous concentrons sur l\u2019\u00e9l\u00e9ment cl\u00e9 de la charge \u00e9motionnelle : la vigilance, c\u2019est-\u00e0-dire le fait de se sentir \u00ab sur ses gardes \u00bb \u2014 appr\u00e9hender et se pr\u00e9parer consciemment \u00e0 des possibles pr\u00e9jug\u00e9s ou \u00e0 la discrimination.<\/p>\n<p>Au Canada, nous avons constat\u00e9 que les professionnels noirs, est-asiatiques et sud-asiatiques qui sont s\u00e9rieusement sur leurs gardes ont la ferme intention de quitter leur emploi dans une proportion dangereusement \u00e9lev\u00e9e, allant de 50 % \u00e0 69 %. Toutefois, nous avons aussi trouv\u00e9 un moyen permettant aux employeurs canadiens de commencer \u00e0 contrer ce chiffre alarmant : renforcer l\u2019autonomie de leurs
